TIME FOR A NEW STEREO SYSTEM FOR THE LUDE
There are so many choices, could you guys/gals give me some ideas of which way to go? Should I maintain the current factory speakers? thanks for the help!

It depends on what your goals are.
When I redid mine, I only wanted to switch out the head unit and the speakers in the rear deck. I found a set of speakers from Alpine that were a perfect fit win the existing holes in the rear deck. I paired that with a Sony head unit, and the whole thing sounds pretty good.
I can give you the model number of the Alpine speakers I used if you want. They may not make them anymore though.

The most cost effective way to improve the sound is to get better speakers.
I run JBL speakers off my stock head unit and they sound great.
Trust your ears interview several speakers before choosing.

The stock unit is the stereo that came with your car. On your prelude, this would be a Honda Tape Deck.

thanks much, that unit while still in good condition is going the way of the buffalo down and out! I plan to install a more capable unit maybe even with steering wheel control. I have this on my Durango and it is very nice.
