Hi All & a question!

Post by bobfreeman »

Hi All

Just a quick hello from a new member. I own a 1991 2.0 EX 3Gen and would like to add some alloys to it - nothing exciting or overlarge just as a replacement to the steel wheels that need new tyres anyway - probably going to buy a wheel/tyre package. Any ideas what sizes I can fit without rubbing arches and fouling the inner wing - don't really understand the offset bit and my local car shop is useless?

Thanks in advance

Bob

Hi, Bob,

Welcome to PreludeDriver. We're happy you found us.

17" rims with about a 35 series tire work fine on these cars as long as you're not planning on lowering too much. I wouldn't go with 18" rims, although I know they can be made to fit as well.

Your Honda Prelude is Front wheel drive, so the offset of your wheels stock will be in the range of +35mm to + 45mm. Your rim size is 14"x6". I think your stock rims will be about a +45mm offset, but I'm not positive. You'll have to pull the wheel off to check for sure.

You should be able to get a wider rim on as well, maybe up to one that is 7" wide instead of 6". It all depends on the rim size and offset though. Safest bet is to stick with a similar, but larger wheel as what you already have.
