Can anyone shed some light?

Post by ironicirony »

I've been trying to figure out what exactly has been 'modd'd' on my 91 prelude for some time now. I recently did the headgasket and seals, and after putting everything back together, had one hell of a time getting the timing right. I think it's got something to do with a mysterious 'chip' near the ignition system. I've been getting horrible mileage - maybe 350km to a full tank of premium gas. No oil consumption anymore. Anyone have any idea?

Here are two hi-res pics of the mysterious chip:

Any insight would be greatly appreciated. After adjusting the timing again, I'm now getting a 7, 8 and 10 error:

7 TP Sensor (Throttle Position)
defective circuit or unplugged / defective sensor

8 TDC Sensor (Top Dead Center)
defective circuit or unplugged / defective sensor

10 IAT Sensor (Intake Air Temperature)
defective circuit or unplugged / defective sensor

As always, thanks in advance guys!

Did you have the jumper in the test plug and motor fully warmed up until the fan cycled before setting the timing???? Jr NSX

Sorry.

I'm having trouble understanding which chip you're looking at. Is it the one with '136' written on it?

Well that doesnt really sound like a problem, if im extremely lucky and drive very sparingly i may just get 400km's on a full tank of unleaded, there are no alterations to my car in terms of modding and it was recently serviced at honda, so my mileage must be about right.
