96 Honda Prelude Si
Hello everyone! So I just bought a car and found out it has an idling issue?? Wht happens is when i start the car it revs on its own with out me even touching the gas paddle. The only time it stops is when the temp gauge goes about halfway. I was told that the reason my car revs after I start the car is because the idle is loose?? Can someone help me figure out what I should do to fix this problem with out having to go into see a mechanic.

Does the idle fluctuate or does the idle just go up really high? The car should idle at about 1500 rpm while it is warming up, then the idle should lower to about 700 rpm once the engine is warm.

This is a very common problem that many Prelude owners encounter. Most times it is caused by the IAC valve being faulty. If that's not the case, we can look at other solutions.
