Crankshaft sensors

Post by Jon Mitchell »

96 VTEC 2.2
The engine cuts out when it heats up, all the dash light turn off but come back on after a minute or two, I can then restart the engine.
It has been suggested the crankshaft sensor has gone. If this is correct, where is the sensor situated.

The crank sensors for a H22 engine can be in one of two places. If the engine is OBD1, then it is in the distributor. If the engine is OBD2, like yours probably is unless you have a JDM swap, it will be on the timing belt end of the engine near the oil pump. I've heard that they can sometimes become unplugged.

Does that help?
