I have this 1987 SI and it has failed emissions at speed on the CO. THE ECU code says vehicle speed sensor (VSS) #17. The book and Honda part look-up says the VSS is in the power steering pump but mine is not there. Also there is nothing electric coming out of the speedometer housing. Anybody know if this model has a VSS, an if so where it is?
The symptoms include; Idle RPM shift during warm-up between 1200-2000, PGM-FI light come on after warm-up and emission fail. Other than that though, it runs great.
Any help would be greatly appreciated,
Mike

The speed sensor on your car is probably cable driven. It is connected to the top of the transmission housing. It's easy to identify; just look for a think rubber casing with a cable inside it.
