Newbie to forums...my daughter purchased an '87 Prelude LXI, it has charging
system problems. Battery and all connections are good, alternator is the problem.
Specific question is - is there any way of removing alt. other than through
the bottom of engine compartment ? I'm told that you have to remove drive train components, in order to get the alt. out. Is it possible/better to move some lines,
hoses and the brake cylinder and take it from top? Thanks for the time.
Need some help w/Alternator replacement

Yes, it's possible. I did that once.
If I remember correctly, you just have to move some other belts out of the way. No big deal.

I'm in the same boat, I have the alternator loose but can't get it out of the lower section!!! Help? Do I need to remove the entire Air cleaner mech. to get it out? or do I dismantle the entire car to get it out?

My memory of the 2nd gen alternator setup is rusty. Can you see which bolt is still in place?
