Replace carburetor.

Postby Randbarr » Tue Mar 11, 2014 7:44 am

Our '89 Honda Prelude needs the carburetor replaced to pass the CA smog test. How much should we expect to pay to have that done? We've been quoted a $1600 estimate. Thanks.

Sorry, can't give you a good quote. That type of work will really depend on who's doing the job.

The easiest and cheapest way to replace the carb would be to source a replacement from a wrecker. Trouble is, you may still have to pay someone to adjust it if you don't have that knowledge yourself.

If you check in the manuals section (top of the screen) the steps for carb replacement are detailed in the manual, a long with the basics of adjusting it.
