I was thinking of going to synthetic oil, has anyone gone fully synthetic yet. I know that acura/honda is using mobil 1 synthetic in the newer cars.

I use Mobil 1.

There are better oils out there, but it's a step in the right direction. The synthetic oils deliver performance that conventionals just can't.

now i just have to narrow down which synthetic to use mobil 1 or royal purple.

Or Motul

i looked up motul and it looks like its not carried anywhere around me. I looked up the specs, but ill have to compare the viscosity of Mobil, royal purple, and motul.
This may be a little wordy but here are the facts.

Lubricants with a high viscosity index give better protection and efficiency than their low viscosity index counterparts. High viscosity index lubricants are more likely to retain correct viscosity for the specific application, because they resist thickening in cold temperature operation or thinning in high temperature operation.

I think i will go with the Mobil 1. It meets some high standards viscosity wise, and Honda uses it. I think my prelude will love it.

I finally made the switch and man does the car run smooth, It feels pretty good too. I have not been able to run the car hard yet cause im waiting on one of my rims to be re-welded. I tell ya though it does run great. Mobil 1 synthetic.

Next step is to put Synthetic in your transmission.

Makes shifting sooo smooth.

that does sound good, mabye that will be the next project. Is that pretty easy also?

Nothing hard about it. In many ways, easier than an oil change because there isn't a filter to do.

I'm way late on this thread, but thought I would throw in my 2 cents worth for the next guy.
I've been a high end mechanic, and a transmission specialist (combined)for 35 years.
All my vehicles run Mobil 1 in the engines. From my pickup and my 4 cylinder street cars, to my high end V-8's in my Late Model stock cars.
The only beware is that if you change it over at high miles, and you have any seal leakage, you will now have a lot more leakage. The oil is so slick that it will run past the seals. It won't hurt anything, but it will make a mess.
I use ONLY sythetic ATF in my transmission shop. It's awesome in all the honda products and exceeds all specs from Honda. I use the Amalie Brand here in the shop because I can buy it bulk. It works in every automatic made. Awesome stuff.
I stop by every few days, so feel free to ask any question, and I'll answer it. I know Honda Auto's like the back of my hand, but a little rough on interchageability on the sticks, so I don't know the swaps.
