Shifting issues.

I own a 1983 'lude, and recently I've run into an issue with the transmission not shifting past first. I had a vacuum leak, which I've repaired. It ran perfectly for about six miles. Then, when I went to drive it again, I ran into the same issue. Any suggestions, or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
