Blizzard! Well, for us it was.....

Post by RedRacer »

Well, for us it was. Actually it was a good snow for the south. We got enough to be pretty and fun, heavy wet snow perfect for building snow-men and sliding down hills on snow boards and garbage can lids...but the temps have been in the 40's and 50's so the roads never got more than a little slushy in some places.

Now, all that snow that melted when it hit the warm roads has now turned to sheets of solid ice due to the temps being in the 20' degree range. It's going to be bad in the morning for anyone who is even remotely stupid enough to think about trying to go out and drive on the roads.

Law enforcement has closed most of the interstates through the city and a lot of the surface roads. They're telling people to stay off the roads at all costs.

Already reading online reports of numerous crashes and accidents due to the ice.

Anyway, it was nice to see snow and be able to have a day off to play in it.

A picture from the crib and one I took in the afternoon just out doing a little sightseeing. It was really pretty out.

Had about 4 inches total when I measured off the patio table.

Crikey! That's unbelievable. You guy have more snow than we do, and it's colder where you are as well.

Great pics. There's nothing like freshly fallen snow.

It was really beautiful. That's why we took out into the "country" where there are more evergreens and green trees that hold the snow.....and the roads are a bit primitive. Less people, more serenity and beauty.

It was supposed to snow again that Sunday night and Monday morning, but it didn't. Then Monday night when there was no snow predicted at all, we looked out and saw snow falling! Couldn't even see the houses across the street it was coming down so heavy. Within about 40 minutes the ground was completely covered again, roads and houses were covered. Went out for a walk with the dog while it was still coming down.....it's so nice the way snow muffles sound and allows you to hear all of the over "smaller" sounds all around you.

I think that's the first time we've ever had over an inch of snowfall in a period of less than 5 days. We had around 4 inches the first time and about 1.5 inches the second time.

It's been pretty cold since then. This time yesterday morning it was 22 degrees. This morning it's 29. High temp today is supposed to be a sweltering 59 degrees. As we say down here in our "neck of the woods" if you don't like the weather, just wait 30 minutes, it'll change.

Oh, for you 'foreigners' -- that would be -5.5556'C, -1.6667'C and 15'C.
