distributors

Post by nosfaratu »

G'day all,
Tricky question i think. Here in australia i have a '83 prelude with 1.8l motor. The distributor is a TEC brand with an internal ignitor or pulse generator assembly. USA models have mainly hitachi dizzies and canadian models TEC with an external ignitor. The TEC dizzie on aussie models have two wires coming from it the hitachi has three. I bought an hitachi remanufactured dizzie from the states. It fits but no one has any idea how it wires up. Anyway i rebuilt my TEC from two other spares to get the car going again but question is : Why at least three different dizzies on the one model car? As a side comment petrol here or as you call it gas, is $1.55 per litre. Multiply that by 4.5 to get price per gallon

The different distributors used across markets probably just comes down to the supplier arrangements Honda had for each region. The different markets may also be governed by slightly different regulations leading to different implementations of the electrical system.
