a/c compressor

Post by 91darkness »

I decided to mess with my a/c, since it hasnt worked pretty much since i had the car. I bought a can of some stop leak/uv dye just to test it. Well as soon as the dye went in it shot out the compressor through what looks like a valve. The valve faces directly to the side of the header. I tried to look up what this is and couldnt find a good picture of it or discription. Any clue?

I think I know the one you mean. Does it look like a tire valve? There are points on the A/C lines where they can be filled.

here is a pic of the compressor facing the header(facing passenger side from front of car). This is where the dye shot out of.

Is that a hole in the center of the bolt?

There must be some sort of check valve integrated into that bolt.

Is it identified in the following schematic:

it does sound like a pressure releafe valve.thats kick of when the compressor is building up too much pressure, it could be a cause of diffrent problem. for example ur orphase tube could be stuck or the eveperator not working propertly.

That blows!

Time to source a replacement one from a wrecker. Just be glad this didn't happen before the onset of summer.

I may have two extra compressors. Let me know...and No, I don't have a clue if they are any good or not....But free is always a good price....
