transmission compatibilty

Hey guys. I know, I know, its been a long time. I have a slight problem. I brought a doner 89 to use for parts but found out it has the sohc carb. b20a3. the manual says the dohc and the sohc trannys are different. Are these trannys interchangeable and if so do i have to do any mods? thanks in advance.

As far as I know all the third gen trannies can be interchanged. The B20A3 bolt holes are in the same places as the B20A5 and B21A1.

Double check to make sure it has the same electronic speed sensor set up that your car does. Else, you may have to swap that out.
