S4 flashing dash light.... (cables / wires / VSS) ?

Post by tash_piper »

Hi
To fix this S4 light flashing I am gettin info to look at cable from VSS - there is no cable!
There are also no cables running from the guages anywhere - there is an electrical unit that sits with the VSS on the tranny - so as it is electrical, how would the issue be solved without fixing a cable - is it purely a replace the VSS and it will work -then also wot do the 4 flashes mean on the ECU under the carpet on passenger side.
Speedo / Cruise Control still not working.
Any advice on this, small or large is appreciated.
Cheers

The speed sensor is electric on 3rd gens. It's contained in a small metal box that sits on top of the tranny. You'll see the sensor wires coming out of it. These sometimes fail and cause problems.

Only older Preludes (1987 and older, I think) had cables.

Your VSS may need to be replaced or repaired. Start by checking the wiring.

Regarding the ECU flashes, see the following page for the chart: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=706
