Is this car worth getting

Post by sharmdoggie »

Its a 1991 3rd gen MY91 CITA honda prelude (4WS) ...its done 288,000...its $1,500 AU...owner says "in good driving condition and has never gave me any problems" and peeling paint. Now 288,000 is alot of kms at what kms do these cars conk out at? and what if a part breaks is it expensive to buy it and repair? if i were to buy this, this would be my first car and before i purchase it im just making sure if this is worth it becuase im guessing you guys know this kind of stuff.

pictures of the car in this link:

It looks like it has seen some good use.

There's no way of knowing when an engine will die. This is particularly true for Honda engines...they go forever if properly maintained.

The peeling paint is concerning. That'll mean rust down the road, even if you live in a very dry part of Australia. I also noted what looked like some staining on the rear bumper from the exhaust, which can mean that the car burns a little oil.

For that price, I think you could do a little better. Be patient. There are still a lot of these cars left with far fewer KMs on them.
