Alarm when battery is disconnected

Post by snigglefluffy »

I have a 95 Prelude SE. I disconnected the battery both terminals to change the Alternator and A/C belt and there was an alarm that kept going off even with the battery disconnected. It came from under the steering column on the Driver's side (Left side). Is there a trick to turn it off. I got the job done but it was somewhat annoying. Otherwise, I love the car.

That has to be an aftermarket thing. Is your car fitted with an aftermarket alarm system?

No not as far as I know. It didn't affect the starter. And I was surprised when I disconnected the battery and it kept going off. Andrew

It's not uncommon for the control unit of an aftermarket alarm to be installed in the driver's side footwell. Can you see anything in there and locate the exact source of the siren?
