To make Spiffy jealous.....

Speaking of sort of supercars..... I got to spend a little time this weekend playing with this. It was fun, but I wouldn't give them almost 100G's for it, but it is a fun car. A real beast when you turn off the safety features. Biggest downside for me - the interior. Way too gimmicky. (ironically, that's what a lot of people said about the electro dash in the 4th gen Prelude) I hated the electronic information screen for gauges and vital engine info. It's fun for about a minute, but I'd rather have REAL gauges instead of cornering stats, steering degrees and g-force displays. To me, the interior just felt like a video game, all around. Seats, gauges, dash, indicators, multi-function screen, etc. Too much. A real driver's car is minimal inside. BASIC ESSENTIALS. This car is busy inside.

All the kids from the Fast and The Furious generation will like driving it around, but I don't expect that serious supercar drivers will be rolling in these cars.

The color is Gun Metal Metallic or something like that.

It did turn heads, that's for sure.

OH, and the exhaust note? Sounds good, but it is real close to identical to what my G sounds like after I put the NISMO Weldina exhaust and headers on. I was surprised they didn't beef up the exhaust sound a little.

Oh my. What a lovely beast. I'm officially jealous.

I do agree that there is too much 'video game' in that car. I think it would be fun for about 10 minutes to play with the G-meter, but then the whole thing would get rather old. This is why in the other thread I chose the Porsche 997 GT3 as my all-time dream car. I love the GT-R, but whenever I picture myself blasting down a coastal highway, I always see myself in a no-frills GT car, and the Porsche is right on the money.

It's funny that you mention the exhaust. I think that the Nissan sport cars have one of the most distinctive exhaust notes ever. The G35, G37, 350Z all sound exactly the same. It's a very recognizeable note. My neighbor roles a G35, and I know he's coming home way before I see him pull up.

Yep. That Nissan exhaust sound that came with the first new Z cars was definitely a stroke of genius. There are no other cars that sound like it. It is very unique. Sure, a Carrera GT has a great sound. Enzo has a great sound. But there is no comparison to the Nissan exhaust and it's calm purring at low revs, and the almost animal like growl at high revs. None.

I love to roll the windows down and listen to my car when I start it, when I drive in tunnels or parking decks. I just love it. And I see people look too, when I drive by, and it's not the looks of the car necessarily, it's the sound of the exhaust.

The other day there was a lady at a red light next to me. She was in a new FX 50. Looks good on the outside. Had not heard the new V-8 sound yet......... I rolled down my window and asked her to rev the engine for me, and I was very disappointed. Sure, it is the V8 and you can't get the same note from it as you can the 6's, but it was kind of a let down as far as the tone.

I'll have to say the 35 and even the old model V8 FX 45 sound so much better than this new 50. (i still think it made her feel sporty that I wanted to hear her exhaust. she said she liked my car as well. I was in the G)

As for the new G coupes........well, I think they look good, but I think they blend a little too easily into the background now. They cleaned up the shape a little too much. And as for that ugly-ass convertible....... enough said. :!:

The Nissan GTR is beautiful but it has no soul. There is nothing you can really do to it to make it your's. It is just another Ferrari or Lambo with a Japanese feel. I've always wanted an Acura NSX or a Nissan (Skyline) GTR but I can spend 10 grand and build something domestic that will kill it in th 1/4 mile and there aren't very many places to test the GTR's limits. Bottom line: I'm glad the Skyline is finally here, too bad it is watered down.
